Jonathan Yun Sculptural Jewelry
Jonathan Yun’s jewelry is deeply inspired by his love for Peranakan culture and nature. Growing up, he spent time with his maternal grandmother and a close friend’s Penang Nyonya grandmother, both of whom nurtured his appreciation for Straits Chinese culture and its intricate designs. Jonathan, a certified divemaster and fern collector, draws creative inspiration from the sea and nature, crafting jewelry that echoes the beauty of coral and fish. Working primarily with silver, he finds the metal versatile and expressive, sculpting each piece in jeweler’s wax before casting it in sterling silver. Jonathan’s mission extends beyond crafting; he hopes to inspire the next generation of artisans and advocates for nature preservation through his work, such as his piece “Your Home, My Home” created to support the endangered langur species.
